Therapeutical options – comprehensive and interdisciplinary
On 1 and 2 October 2021, the "Vienna Lymphological Symposium" took place for the 2nd time as a hybrid advanced training course, organised by Krankenhaus Göttlicher Heiland, Vienna, and Juzo Academy of Julius Zorn GmbH, Aichach. Under the scientific direction of Prof. Dr. med. Chieh-Han John Tzou, Vienna, PD Dr. med. Christoph Ausch, Vienna and Dr.med. Brigitte Obermayer, Vienna, as well as Prof. Dr. med. Manuel Cornely, Cologne, lymphology was considered holistically and interdisciplinarily over two days and the Night of Lymphology, as it took place in 2019, was even extended by one day.
The focus is on the human being
According to Prof. Dr. Tzou, the focus is always on the human being, because especially in the medical field of lymphology, an interprofessional network is crucial in order to achieve the best possible outcome for patients and to give them back their quality of life.
The latest advances and findings in the ever-changing field of medicine and science were presented and lymphology was also considered internationally. The spectrum of topics was broad and ranged from conservative to surgical therapy of lipoedema and lymphoedema, imaging procedures, high-tech products in compression therapy to the treatment of obesity, venous insufficiency and other diverse clinical pictures.
In addition to the lectures, two workshops were offered to the participants. "ICG-guided decisions in conservative and surgical treatment of Lymphoedema" and with "Sewing with the Masters" a live scope session with a specialist in microsurgery.
Insights into the latest scientific and medical findings
The event impressed with top-class international speakers and participants. Aimed at doctors, therapists and medical trade professionals interested in lymphology, the event offered plenty of room for discussion, networking and knowledge transfer across national borders.
About 120 participants on site and further 130 via livestream from 17 countries all over the world were present during the days. Prof. Dr. Tzou, initiator of the symposium, already announced with great pleasure the next symposium for probably autumn 2022.
